Making a reservation on Lower Burrell’s new website to see the Easter Bunny this year was so easy, officials are hoping more residents will visit for a host of other reasons.
The city launched its new website earlier this year to offer online, for the first time, services such as booking facilities, including the Burrell Lake Park lodge, submitting forms and reception of news from the city. Residents can still make reservations and take care of other business in person at Town Hall.
“We urge people to register on the website to receive updates from the city on timely information such as the recent call for applications for seasonal help,” said Amy Rockwell, city administrator.
Any news that the city posts on its website can be emailed to residents if they sign up to receive the information.
“That way, residents won’t have to search the website for information,” she said.
Councilor Chris Fabry hosted a successful Easter event this month with the Easter Bunny. Although the event is free, residents had to make reservations to maintain a good flow of traffic for the driving event, suited to pandemic restrictions for large gatherings.
The city could not have been successful without the website, Fabry said, and its program that allows the public to book reservations online.
“I was afraid that everyone would come at the same time and create a line of cars,” he said. But scheduling resident drive-through tours in 15-minute increments made the booking process seamless.
With more residents able to access the city’s services online, Mayor John Andrejcik wants to get the word out.
“There is a lot online to help residents,” he says. “For example, for the recent St. Patrick’s Day parade, there is a link to see all the streets in town to find out where the parade route is and other things.”
Additionally, when residents subscribe to email notifications, they can receive emergency notifications and information about city events and can control the amount of information sent to them. he declares.
“And you can customize the type of information that comes to you so you don’t get bombarded with emails,” Andrejcik said.
The website has a streamlined and streamlined “how-to” section allowing viewers to quickly find links and information on city services, forms and information.
