Here’s what’s under construction at The Point Mall

Construction is underway at the former Infinito’s Pizza store at The Point Mall in Lower Paxton Township.

Infinito’s Pizza has already moved to another location in the mall. And now, construction is underway in its old space for a new Panera Bread location that will include drive-thru. Panera Bread is currently located next to the former Infinito space and has been at the mall for over 17 years.

Lower Paxton Township officials first confirmed that Panera Bread received a permit to build next door in 2019 and recently confirmed that Panera Bread is indeed working on renovations next door. It’s unclear exactly why it took so long for construction to begin or when the new location is expected to open. Kristi Jackson, head of marketing and investor relations for Cedar Realty Trust, owner of The Point, could not be reached for comment. And officials at Panera Bread could not be reached for comment either.

The mall has 268,037 square feet and is anchored by Giant, Burlington, Staples and Home Outlet and includes smaller tenants like Plato’s Outlet and the Dollar Tree. Home Outlet opened next to Burlington last year. But the mall has empty spaces. The AC Moore store is vacant and there is an empty space between the state liquor store and Boost Mobile.

Panera Bread is known for its bread, baked goods, salads, sandwiches and soups. And that’s not the only new location for Panera Bread. The company is currently building one of its restaurants in Susquehanna Union Green in Susquehanna Township. And Panera Bread opened a new location at High Pointe Commons in Swatara Township in 2019.
